THIS PRODUCT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY. IT DOES NOT WORK FOR MY IPOD CLASSIC NOR FOR THE NANO.

I ordered this cable a few days ago and just recieved it today. FINALLY, I can watch videos on my tv from the ipod nano, WRONG! First off, I should have known better, I read the reviews and how alot of you had trouble also. One reviewer that said it worked, just make sure the video output setting is turned on - is what I thought the problem for alot of people was. I guess I was wrong. Plugged it in, video setting to tv output and nothing on screen. Ipod says "connect output signal" or whatever it says on the screen. Went to music folder and played a song, that worked - on the left speaker channel. The right channel was dead. So, I took apart the connecter where it plugs into the ipod. To my surprise, two of the wires have broken off the pins. "So that's why it's not working?" Wrong again, same thing, not a single thing on the screen and that message on the ipod, but I got the right channel working now. I looked up the pin layout chart to see if the pins are in the right place and they are, so I don't know what the deal is. I don't plan on sending it back, it's not worth my time. Gave it one star because it arrived quickly though! So BUYERS BEWARE!

For those of you who bought this item and were disappointed, I assure you that confusion may have led you to believe it doesn't work. Allow me to give you some simple instructions:
1.Make sure you are plugging it into the right place on you TV. This may sound stupid, but some people may not realize that there are composite IN as well as OUT spots on some TVs. You want to use the composite (video/audio) IN.
2.Find the right setting for your specific TV. As you would change the INPUT setting when using a DVD player, you would do the same for your ipod. It will most likely be either VIDEO 1 or VIDEO 2.
3.IPOD SETTINGS: From the main menu, go to VIDEOS > VIDEO SETTINGS. Select TV OUT and make sure that you select ON. Make sure that TV SIGNAL is on NTSC if you are in the US (most European countries use PAL). If you would like to use the WIDESCREEN (16:9) option, select ON. For Standard TV (4:3), select OFF.
For those of you are thinking about buy this item, I was quite satisfied. The cable was very inexpensive compared to what I would have bought directly from Apple; the cable arrived promptly and in brand new condition; the quality of the video was perfect for what I required.

 NOT Compatible with "iPod Classic" March 31, 2008
The cable appears to be extremely well made, but it is NOT compatible with my new iPod "Classic" 80GB. Repardless of the video ouput settings I use, this iPod will NOT play video through this cable. Bummer! Apple sells a cable for $49 (both composite and component video options are available). This appears to be the only option.

I ORDERED THIS CABLE TO WATCH VIDEOS ON MY IPOD THROUGH MY TV, BUT IT DOES NOT WORK I HEARD SOUND BUT THERE WAS NO VIDEO AT ALL AND RIGHT BEFORE I PLAYED THE VIDEO MY IPOD ASKED ME TO CONNECT THE VIDEO ACCESSORY (WHICH IS THE CABLE I HAVE PURCHASED) WAS ALREADY CONNECTED TO MY IPOD AND THE PIECE DID NOT WORK. THINK BEFORE YOU PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE IT PROBABLY DOES NOT FOR ANY IPOD YOU HAVE ,I'VE TRIED IT ON THE 3RD GENERATION IPOD NANO, AND THE CLASSIC.
