Good for travel September 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought two pair of these for an oversees flight. The batteries easily last for the 9 hour flight. They were comfortable, not too hot and had good sound dampening cutting out most of the engine noise. They had good range for music and in-flight entertainment. No where near as good as the bose, but for less than 1/3 the price, I'd recommend them to a friend. Folded up easily for storage.
Sennheiser PXC 250 Active Noise Canceling Headphones September 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
They are okay, not too comfortable for wearing for a long time but good value for money. I'm not sure these types of headphones do anything more than cancel out aircraft noise because when used under other continuous background noise scenarios, like with a lawnmower, they seem to block only the same frequency as for aircraft noise.
BOSE quality without the BOSE price September 30, 2008 I was looking for something with a BOSE quality without the BOSE price. This is it. Noise cancellation was comprable. Haven't had it long enough to know about battery life but love the fact the control is straight line in the cord and not built into the ear piece (easier to remember to turn it off).
I would buy this again for a gift with no worries about the quality.
Amazing for the Price. Compare with Bose. September 28, 2008 I purchased my Sennheiser PXC 250's a month ago. Before I purchased, I did an in-store comparision with the Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones at four times the price. I found the Senn's to be equal, or better, in noise-cancelling capability, audio quality, and for me - long period wear comfort. They're not as 'pretty' as the Bose, and I did find the cord design and arrangement to be somewhat clunky and archaic, but at four times the price how much is pretty worth? After a month's extremely heavy use, sitting at my computer 10 hours a day, I'd say I made a very wise decision with the Senn's.
Too Fragile for Travel September 26, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this unit for travel but, a year later, it's headed for the trash. I liked the fact that it folded down to fit easily into my carry-on bag, but the wires had to be wrapped awkwardly around the folded headphones and, after perhaps a dozen uses, the wires failed. The headphones now work only if I stretch out the wires with one hand and hold the connection point between plug and airplane at precisely the correct angle with the other. I have to say that the sound, volume control and noise canceling qualities were quite satisfactory, but my next set of headphones will have a sturdier design.
