The remote control only works if you use the iPod function of your iPhone. If you are playing Pandora, you can't use the remote. Also, there is a terrible white noise once you plug in the iPhone that forces you to turn up the volume to over compensate. The actual piece that plugs into the bottom of the iPhone is flimsy and folds down too easily so you have to be very careful plugging the phone in or you will just fold down the connection piece. I no longer use this.

As mentioned in previous reviews the speaker emits a buzzing sound when connected to an iphone(3G). The sound quality is impressive for the size of the unit. Unfortunately, the volume must be turned up to compensate for the buzzing sound. This is not acceptable at work so I will be returning the product.

Purchased for ipod touch.
The ipod can be charged but only if the item is turned on. While the item is on, it emits a constant sputtering/crackling noise through the speakers if there is nothing playing. The sound is ok at low volumes but turn it up and the crackling and sputtering continue.
The connection from the item and the ipod is falling into the item, I have to manually try to pull it up and it is still difficult to dock the ipod. The last time I docked the ipod may be the last because the docking connection is falling further and further into the item.
Only used about 3 times.
pros: able to connect to a/c power, remote control
cons: cheaply made, already falling apart poor sound quality, have to turn on and deal with crackling noises just to charge ipod, think it won't last long.

OK, I'll admit it...it's not the very best in ihome entertainment. That being said for the price paid, I feel it's a great value. I have purchased and tested three of these already for my younger sisters as gifts. I felt the sound quality was pretty good (though I do not work in the audio field). It did take a few seconds to for lack of a better word, warm up after the ipod was connected. I used the remote to ensure it worked. I thought that it was pretty cool that I could control the song selection from across the room while I was cleaning or turn it down to answer the phone without stopping what I was doing. I felt that for work or even for things around the house it was plenty loud. I didn't have any connection problems with any of them thus far. I just ordered one for myself. I was thrilled to see the price went down a little bit even. If you want to blast out your neighbors, this is not for you. If you are looking to enjoy music at a decent price, then this is for you.
Horrible sound quality and cheap build quality January 3, 2010

Bought this for my wife's Ipod nano. The pros were that it is small and we had no problems getting it to work. But that's it. Unfortunately, the sound quality is terrible. When plugged in to AC power, there is noticeable hiss on the speakers when the Ipod isn't playing anything. When the Ipod is first connected, there is a "pop" and loud hum for a few seconds then it goes away. Very annoying. Build quality was on the very low end, especially considering the price. This was quite obvious with flimsy components like the battery covers and other places.
Bottom line - buy something else. Ours is going back.
