I tried another brand first to try and save the money, NO LUCK. Would charge, play sound, and show pictures but would not play movies. This does exactly what it is supposed to. I may get annoyed with Apple on a regular basis about their proprietary ways but I keep buying their stuff because it works like nothing else.
Several reviewers have commented on the tightness of the fittings and this is absolutely true, they fit very snugly. However I had no issue getting them on or off, I just twisted slightly clockwise while pushing on or pulling off and wallah.
I thought about getting the Apple Component AV Cable - iPhone / iPod audio / video / data cable with power adapter - component video / audio / USB - Apple Dock connector - 4 pin USB Type A, RCA (M) but when I travel on business more TVs have composite hookups than component hookups and my wife's car has composite hookups so decision made.

I have iphone 3GS, unfortunately you can not play anything except youtube, I was looking for playing "mobiTv" :( no chances..

The connectors are a bit weird and you may have trouble fitting them in tight places. Worked right away with no configuration. Included AC adapter is nice. Wish apple would allow 3rd party adapters as this one is very overpriced.

I purchased the Apple Composite AV Cable and it works as I had hoped it would.
I wanted to plug my IPAD into my tv for Netflix and at other times wanted to listen to Pandora Radio through my home stereo amp.
To enable me to switch from one to the other without having to move cables each time I also bought a Distribution Amplifier from Radio Shack for about $15. If you are plugging your Ipad into just one device you of course don't need the amp.
I plugged the Apple Component AV Cable into the Radio Shack Amp (both audio and video) and then ran audio/video cables from amp to my Samsung TV and just audio cables to my stereo amplifier.
I now can plug my IPAD 3G into the Apple Composite Cable and either start netflix or pandora and turn on either the TV or the Stereo. It all works very well with good sound and video quality.
The charger plug in piece is included in the box so when I am watching movies or listening to stereo, the ipad is charging.
Ps..When I first tried out the cable I did connect it directly to my tv and althought the cable was a bit tight to remove, it came out just fine.
