I purchased this mount for my iPod Touch primarily because here in California it's illegal to mount anything to the windshield.
This is basically a heavy duty bean bag with a metal plate attached to it. The bracket and arm attaches to this metal plate with a suction cup (and can therefore be directly attached to the windshield itself without using the bean bag if need be). The brackets that hold the iPod are heavily padded and grip tightly and securely, and also allow for easy attach and release.
I've driven around with this mount for about a month time and I've got to say it works great. It doesn't slip or slide and the iPod stays in place and barely even vibrates. The screen is within easy reach (I have a Toyota Corolla) and I have no trouble seeing the screen while keeping my eyes on the road (it's certainly better than glancing down to fumble with an iPod that's in your hand!).
The only thing I could criticize it for would be that the arm is so heavy duty that you have to really wrench it to put it in landscape mode if you start in portrait mode. I have found, however, that the bracket extends itself out fairly wide and can just fit the iPod that way, so it's not a dealbreaker. A tiny bit more extension would be great, or maybe some kind of clever release and rotate mechanism.
I like that I can keep the iPod it its DLO JamJacket sleeve because that's fairly bulky. It mounts and releases quickly with just one hand and stays secure the whole way. Great product!
