Unable to type properly with this protection March 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had bought a keyboard protection from iSkin before but for a macbook pro and I was very pleased with it, except that it was hard to see the keys in low light environment.
This protection is designed for the ultra thin keyboard from Apple. It covers the entire keyboard very well and indeed would provide a full valuable protection against dust and spills. But the design is such that each key is covered from the top of the key to the bottom on the sides, so each key is like wrapped with that skin. The skin is actually pretty thick and makes typing a nightmare. It takes more effort to press each key as the skin sort of holds the key upward. It's hard to explain, but after trying the skin for a few days, I had to remove it off the keyboard, as I was typing slower, and was making typing errors because of that.
Ultimately I think they need to create a similar product, where the skin is thinner and doesn't completely surround the key. Each key cover should have less depth, preventing from having to force harder to press each key. The skin should not be touching the base of the keyboard in the gap between the keys, allowing the pressing of the key to be more natural.
Hope that makes sense. It's not an easy problem to explain. But I had to put 1 star down only, as I can't use the product.
