Product Description This USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA drive adapter implements a bridge between a USB port and one SATA, ATA or ATAPI based mass storage device port. This USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA drive adapter turns any standard IDE or SATA drive into a convenient external drive. Easily transfer files from computer or notebook, back up files, or store large file archives on hard drives. The Hi-Speed USB interface provides for easy installation with its Plug and Play design. The adapter supports all existing IDE/ATAPI devices such as a CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM and 2.5 and 3.5 IDE and SATA hard drives.

Very handy device! August 29, 2008 This little device has proved invaluable to me in my role as computer support. I have rescued data from many a failing computer by converting the hard drive to usb. It's much easier than the old way of slaving the hard drive inside another computer! And it is both SATA, IDE compatable!
Very handy and works well June 23, 2008 These adapters are very handy. They support both 3.5 and 2.5 IDE and SATA drives. They are a tiny bit finicky. You must power up the drive with the supplied AC adapter BEFORE you plug the USB cable into the computer. If you don't do this, my personal experience has been that the attached device may not be recognized by the host computer.
Much less expensive and far more versatile than most external enclosures. Also quicker to use. However, not a particularly glamorous way to connect your drives.
Overall, a very effective and inexpensive solution to hanging a SATA or IDE drive on your computer via a USB 2.0 port.

Another Junk product May 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this item because it got a great review, but I have tried this product on three different IDE hard drives and my XP PC hasn't been able to see any of them. The instructions are worthless, they make no mention of what the jumper configuration needs to be on the hard drive, so I ended up trying every configuration possible to try and make this work. When I plug in the USB cable (with or without the hard drive attached) the connector turns on a Red LED. This may indicated some circuit failure, but again the manual says nothing about the LED and what it means. I would avoid this product.
excelent product!! December 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
excellent techie product. seems more like a toy than a real enclosure, but trully functional and eficient. you can even connect 2 different devices at the same time and copy files from one to another. amazing!
