4 out of 5 stars Easy to apply but full body isn't necessary   July 20, 2010
M. V. Horst (Rochester, NY USA)
If I were to give one piece of advice, it would be to only buy the back shield if possible.

I have one of these on my Apple iPod touch 16 GB (1st Generation) OLD MODEL but only ended up putting on the back shield. The silver backplate of the iPod Touch is what scratches pretty badly. The front glass that covers the screen is pretty durable and hasn't scratched in the 2 years I've had my iPod. If you're careless with your device, however, and keep it in the same pocket as your keys or something, you should definitely use the screen shield too.

Applying these shields isn't horribly difficult if you follow the instructions carefully or even watch a video on YouTube which shows how to do it. Unlike other adhesive shields, you can apply the invisibleShield and make adjustments before fixing it in place. This is kind of nice because it's hard to get everything lined up on the first shot. For example, because the iPod Touch is so thin, the tabs that wrap around the sides and corners of the device can be a pain to get to stick. You basically have to squeegee out the liquid to make it tacky and then hold the tabs down for a few seconds so they stick. (If you don't understand what I mean by "squeegee out the liquid", you will if you buy one of these shields.)

Overall I would recommend the invisibleShield but would also caution you to take your time applying it so you get it on right. If you do get it right, it'll stick forever and give your iPod the best protection possible!

1 out of 5 stars Difficult to install, Poor designed fit   January 15, 2010

I have several ZAGG Invisible Shield products for various devices. In the past the installation kits had a mist spray bottle. The fine mist could be used to get an even coating of the product for installation. Now kits come with sponges that do not allow a thin even coating of the product for installation. The cut of the product varies from poor to worse than poor. The worst fit was with ZAGG's Invisible Shield for the Nikon D300. Neither of the two pieces was cut to the curve of the LCD screens. The product hung off the edges of the top screen and looked terrible. I attempted to trim the edges with a very sharp pen knife. The product stretched and tore. I was able to cut the larger back screen to fit using scissors while the product was still on its backing. Customer service was even worse than the product design. The responses from ZAGG customer service showed less intelligence with each successive correspondence. I did get a few chuckles while reading an E-mail asking for information that was in a previous sentence they wrote. All in all, the experience was much more frustrating than humorous. After over half of a dozen tries with ZAGG products, I am giving up. I will not purchase any additional products from ZAGG.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product, but not for everyone.   June 20, 2009

The Invisible shield does exactly what it says it does, *if you apply it correctly*.

If you were (or are) good at putting decals on models (wet them, wait till the right moment, and apply and smooth quickly) you will love this product. No it does not cover 100% of the Ipod, and it provides only minimal impact protection, but it does cover about 97% of the unit (make sure you get the right one, 1G, 2G, etc) and provides an excellent scratch resistance.

One tip, to seal the corners and edges, I applied the front (easiest part), then after applying the back, I placed a paper towel folded like 4 times on the front to fit, then tightly wrapped in clinging plastic wrap and let sit overnight to cure. When I unwrapped the next morning I had a beautifully, nearly hermetically sealed unit.

If you got the skillz, I highly recommend. If not, consider yourself cautioned, and please don't post a "I couldn't make it work after 3 hours and 2 quarts of squirting" kind of review. :?)

5 out of 5 stars The best cover for ipods   April 10, 2009

5 out of 5 stars It was just what I expected   March 26, 2009

Does require some patience when installing. If you read instructions and watch video you will be fine. Plenty of spray left over. Fit just right. Even removed back piece multiple times to get it just right. Had no issues with stretching or removing. As for those tough corners.....just wait 5-10 minutes and allow solution to dissolve and you will be fine (as stated in instructions). Lastly, if that doesn't work, use a hair dryer on cool setting and it will speed up the process and allow the corners to stick. After sitting for 12 hours I repressed all those areas that had too much solution and all the air pockets disappeared. If you read the instructions, take your time, and don't freak out you will be fine. It's just what I expected and preserves the natural look and enhances the feel of the itouch.
