 worked but not for me April 8, 2008
I could not program it for my direct tv so my brother in law has it and uses it. He loves it . Would like to find one that works with direct tv..
 Not worth the price January 20, 2008
Pro: It is jumbo! It's easy to see. Buttons feel nice and I think they glow enough to see just fine

Cons: It is horrible to program. The directions are very confusing. It took about an hour for me to finally find the right code. The code search option kept turning off in the middle of my attempt to program it. After pressing about 500 buttons, I finally got it to work... but only partially. It works on the the TV, but not on the DVD or anything else we have. And on the TV, it only does basic functions- change channels, on/off, volume... it will go to the menu screen but will not let you choose any options on the menu. And like said before, it only supports about 5 "appliances" that I can see, not 8 (and that's if you can get it to work with them). We have used this remote since Christmas and it already broke. The battery door was lightly touched with the the "hinge" part of the door decided to snap off. NOT WORTH BUYING!!!! -especially if you have to pay shipping on top of the price of the remote... DO NOT BUY. I am very disappointed that I bought it and wish I could get a refund, but I know that would probably be another hassle to do over the internet. Think twice before buying this gimmick.

I am definitely not happy with this item. Most of the buttons do not function properly. For example, I press the "menu" button for the cable, and instead get the TV listings. The "guide" button does not work at all, neither does the "info" button. Just a big waste of money.

I had a very difficult time trying to get the remote to work. I had to try codes other than the ones that were included with the remote and the glowing is not that prominent. My grandfather enjoys it because he can actually see what he is doing.

I own the model without glow-in-the-dark buttons. The only difference is the material the buttons themselves are made out of.
If you have a TV, VCR or DVD chances are really good it's supported. If it's a combo unit your chances drop to about half, DVD/VCR combo is maybe 20% when programmed separately. Fair chances that it will control your cable TV or satellite box. If you have a DVD recorder or ATSC tuner box you're just out of luck. I have yet to get it to work with my A/V receiver in spite of it being an advertised feature.
I got mine on sale for eight bucks and wouldn't pay a penny more. They're a gimmick, a toy, nothing truly useful. 3 stars because it's useful as far as it goes, the "8 device" claim is a flat out lie though it's 5.
