 I always wanted a colorful MacBook -- and now I have one :) November 15, 2008
One of my gripes about apple is their tendency to monochrome, they seem to live in a black and white world over there! Thank god for Speck, now my MacBook is shiny red (kinda reminds me of my old orange iMac) and its got extra protection to boot. Really helps when I'm wedging my three laptops into my carry on bag, now my beautiful MacBook doesn't get scuffed up anymore, it stays nice and clean and it looks sharp! This is a very well designed product, its got air vents and rubber feet. I was a little concerned that I might have heat problems with this cover on there, but so far it actually seems to run nice and cool.
Only real downside is that it makes the MacBook just a teensy bit more bulky, but you can't have extra protection without a little cost.
 After two years this product may gradually break the screen casing, good company though October 31, 2008

Also, I spoke with Speck products and though I still find this product a bit poorly conceived, the company was EXTREMELY helpful and willing to help out. So I have no problem giving Speck, the company, a positive recommendation. It's nice to see a company that will stand by their product - a rarity nowadays.
Everyone who is thinking of buying or has bought this product needs to see this review. The Macbook Pro is not designed to take any pressure from opening the screen against the dark grey outer edge. This product creates new pressure points that can gradually cause severe damage over time.

The hard case is easy to install, provides a small space between it and your laptop so that any bumps do not directly transfer onto your computer. Additionally, because the case is transparent, you can put photos or decals within this space without the use of any adhesives. Its practically weightless and allows full movement of your monitor (unless you want to bend it backwards beyond the MacBook's suggested angle, but that too is a good thing). Lastly, it looks cool. I don't know why, but these covers are great eye candy. It gives your computer this jovial flare, like that of a new toy.

This case has saved my laptop on several occasions from getting banged up when otherwise I would have surely gotten bad scratches or dings. You have to pop the bottom portion off in order to change the battery if you have a spare, but after the first few times of doing this it comes off pretty easily. You can slip printed designs or the like between the laptop cover and the case if you want to personalize it and easily change it out, or you can skin the cover without applying stickers directly to your machine. I have been very satisfied with this product. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it does take a minute to get the bottom cover off to change the battery, I wish it came off a little easier. I usually do it on a plane and it can be a little cumbersome.
Perfect Fit October 1, 2008
This is the second Case I have purchased from Speck and it is everything they have claimed it would be. An absolute necessity for the owner of a MacBook Pro.
