it is a bose December 1, 2008 it is a bose, no mistake, but was not informed when i bought it, thought it was a portable one and though it said it would play a shuffle... i was wrong on both accounts, mabey i just didn't do all my home work on this...also an older version go the new bose soundock2 now out...no frills speaker, but still a bose, good sound
Great sound in a compact design November 30, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a casual user of audio equipment. We have 3 IPODs in our home (one for each family member, my wife, my daughter and myself). Because this product has recharging capability, we take turns recharging our IPODs; however, we also have charging cords in other rooms.
What attracted me to this product was the simple design: This is a sound dock that your IPOD fits into. Volume, power, play and advance song/replay song can be controlled with a small remote control. The base of the unit has a button for increasing or decreasing volume.
Construction is solid, heavy in weight (adding to stability) and a piano gloss black finish. Although this unit is portable, it is not practical to travel with this system. The external transformer is a bit of a negative which adds even more weight to the unit.
Sound quality is great for a compact set of speakers with a powerful base. There are no adjustments for parameters, such as treble, bass, mid-range frequencies. Your only option to adjust any sound parameters is to make adjustments within your IPOD.
Limitations: There is no way to navigate through the menu system utilizing the remote control.
VERDICT:
Aside from its minor flaws, this is a great system for listening to your IPOD without taking a lot of space.
Highly recommend this product.
iPod & Bose, what a combo! November 29, 2008 I got the Bose SoundDock for my wife's birthday & what a choice! She loves it & it arrived as promised. Easy to use & a pleasure to listen to.
First Generation will not work with 3G iPhone November 25, 2008 The first generation Sounddock will not work with 3G iPhones. This is due to that this is a 12 V system and not the 5v USB voltage used with the 3G. Sounddock II will work with the 3G iPhone. cablejive.com makes a $37 voltage converter that will make Sounddock I work with this first generation product.
Bose SoundDock NO SUBSTITUTE November 23, 2008 I had been looking for a while not wanting to get something that did not have base or sounds crackly when I am playing it loud. I like it loud!!! This little thing really is awesome!! And for the price really hard to beat. Enjoy
