This IDC study details IDC Canada's 20052010 forecast of the Canadian Internet access market. This broadband study includes DSL and cable modem services for consumers and comparable dedicated access technologies for businesses.
The Internet access market had the second-highest rate of growth in the Canadian telecom services market in the past two years, and Internet service revenue reached C$4.8 billion. Revenue from Internet access services is expected to increase to C$5.1 billion in 2006 and rise to over C$6.1 billion in 2010, producing a five-year average annual growth rate of 4.8 per cent.
"Canada continues to be a global leader in high-speed Internet access services," states Tony Olvet, vice president, Communications practice, noting that there were almost 7.2 million high-speed subscribers in the second quarter of 2006 more than 22 per cent of Canada's population and 54 per cent of Canadian households.
